Description Black and white photograph from Edward La Chapelle's 1959 study of avalanche hazards in a proposed (but never-built) ski area around Provo Peak in Utah County, Utah. This photo shows the head of Rock Canyon. "A large avalanche has broken off on the slope immediately below the camera, and descended to the floor of the canyon."
