The use of insolation in forecasting temperatures

Considerable work has been done in recent years in an attempt to obtain an objective method of forecasting daytime temperatures. Temperature forecasting is important not only because the public is interested in the value of the maximum temperature during a heat wave, but also because it is necessary for the meteorologist to know the time at which critical temperatures will be reached in order that he may forecast other weather elements.
