Subject Neuro-ophth & Systemic Disease (eg. MS, MG, Thyroid); Visual Fields; Perimetry
Description Visual field (VF) testing is not a standard component of Parkinson's Disease (PD) evaluation, although patients with PD have an increased prevalence of VF defects compared to the general population. VF testing can be difficult to perform in this patient population due to difficulties with motor control, ocular fixation, visuomotor coordination, attention and learning, and effects of medicine. Hence, while poor visual acuity has been linked to impaired motor function, development of visual hallucinations, and poor quality of life in patients with PD, the relationship between VF defects and activities of daily living in PD remains uncertain.
