UHS Democracy Speech Winners, Girls' State, & Declamation Finalists

The photographs were taken for the 1952 edition of the Uintah High School yearbook. They are on page 103. The photograph in the top left corner is of Karl Baese, Renee Henderson, and Connie Oaks. They were the U.H.S. winners of the "I Speak For Democracy" contest. Renee Henderson was the first place winner of the region. The photograph in the center right of the page is of the Girls' State participants: Myra Woolley, Marquita Goodrich, and Carolyn Wallis. The photograph in the bottom left corner of the page is of the Declamation Finalists from the Vernal L.D.S. Seminary. They were: Floyd Tullis, Eloise Caldwell, Gary Haws, Connie Lundell, Bryce Merkley, and Nita Slaugh. The students who won first place were Eloise Caldwell and Bryce Merkley.
