This site is not well maintained and the finely cultivated grass of tIle new cemetery located on the Chester Road about one-half mile east of US 89, is here replaced by weeds and dirt. There seems to be little attempt on the city's part to deal with the up-keep of this particular site. The graveyard contains the head-stones of several men killed in the Indian Wars and many of the stone are hand carved and contain interesting local head-stone motifs and designs. . No infonnation is available as to ,.,hen the cemetery site ,..as moved nor 'ihy. The newer cemetary was begun in 1869 as space became drastically reduced in the Ci ty limits and Indian problems became less of a threat.
