The front gable has \\OOd shingle siding, as does the gable on the front p:>rch. The p:>rch has tapered square wooden colurms. Walls are of briclt with two corbeled belt courses above the windows, which have brick arched openings. There is a ' large three part front window with decorative wocxi\IDrk and a leaded glass transan above the cdnter section . 'Ibe houre is similar to 252, 262 , 264, and 270 J Street, adjacent, all built in 1903 by the sane developer. ----'Iborms W. 'Ibe developer of this group o f houses probably chose the designs from an architectural pattern book, a COIIlllCll practice in the district . In 1903 Charles W. Midgley built this house as v.ell as 252, 262, 264 and 270 J. Street adjacent to it. Midgley was born in Nephi, Utah Septenber 23, 1864 and moved to Salt lake City as a young child. He was one of the first theater operators in Salt lake, entering the business in 1906. In 1913 he operated the Arrerican 'Ibeatre at 241 South ~in Street. Midgley roved to Caldlfornia in 1914 where he died on Aug. 8, 1937. Midgley never lived in this houre, but sold it to Fred o. Frick in 1905. Frick, a legal stenographer, owned the house until 1913 while living at 264 J Street. Aaron Myers bought the house from Frick but never lived here. Myers was a lawyer and during 1915 lived at 264 J Street. In 1917 Myers sold the property to EmraC. Anderson who sold it to Betsy C. Borreson in 1920. M3 . Borreson, a schoolteacher at Blaine School, was apparently the first resident owner? Betsy Borreson only lived here for two years. She rented it to William C. Cbodwin in 1922 and sold the porperty to Sarah White in 1923. Fred and Agnes Howes became the resident owners in 1926, staying until 1929. Mr. Francis H. Evers bought the property in 1929 as a real estate investnent and sold it to Zion's Benefit Building Society in 1942. Various tenants were resident here during this tine period. Avenues H.
