Typescript (3 pages) of an address by Federal Reserve member Marriner S. Eccles at a banquet of the 17th Biennial Congress of the Cooperative League of the U.S.A. in Chicago on 12 October 1950. Also correspondence related to the speech and drafts of a press release for the speech. His subject was the need to strengthen the U.S. military against the Russians and to fight inflation. Includes a printed advance program of the conference. The main author of letters to Eccles was Jerry Voorhis, Executive Secretary of the Cooperative League. In letter exchanged in January of 1951, Voorhis and Eccles discussed taxation of cooperatives. |
