Title Compliance among adolescents with asthma
Date 2000-08
Description The purpose of this study was to assess treatment and medication compliance in the adolescent population with asthma. The Asthma Compliance Questionnaire (ACQ) was used to collect data from 48 adolescents with asthma. The data were collected from multiple clinic sites, and a mail survey was tested. Using the logistic regression model, the compliance of adolescents with asthma was predicted on the basis of energy and willpower, motivation, and support from parents. The most powerful predictors were energy and willpower. Adolescents with energy and willpower were 467.939 times more likely to take care of themselves and to comply with health regimens than adolescents without energy and willpower. The next predictor of compliance was motivation. Adolescents with motivation were 17.2455 times more likely to comply with health regimens than adolescents without motivation. In addition, adolescents with parental support were 4.2567 times more likely to comply with health regimens than adolescents without support.
