Description When an abducens nerve palsy coexists with a gaze palsy to the same side from damage to both the abducens nucleus and the ipsilateral abducens nerve fascicle, the fascicular nerve element in the gaze palsy cannot be assessed unless there is a marked asymmetry between the two eyes, with the abducting eye being more limited in movement than the adducting eye.
