Description Some congenital, primarily nonprogressive myopathies affect the extraocular muscles. Although the disorders in this group are similar to one another clinically and are called collectively structurally defined congenital myopathies, they have distinctive morphologic features. The primary congenital myopathies are (a) central core myopathy, (b) nemaline myopathy, (c) centronuclear (or myotubular) myopathy, (d) multicore disease, and (e) congenital fiber-type disproportion.
