Description |
Involvement of the ophthalmic division (V1) by orbital disease is uncommon. Rose and Wright identified periorbital trigeminal sensory loss in 103 (3.3%) of 3,070 patients with orbital disease seen at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Of the 103 patients, 83 had sensory loss in the territory of one or more branches of V1. In almost all patients, the involved cutaneous territory was appropriate to the position of the lesion in the orbit. Nasociliary branch lesions. Frontal branch lesions. Lacrimal branch lesions. Syndromes of the orbital apex, superior orbital fissure, and anterior cavernous sinus. |
