Description Prosopagnosia is frequently associated with three other clinical findings. First is a field defect, commonly a left or bilateral upper quadrantanopia but sometimes a left homonymous hemianopia. Second is achromatopsia or hemiachromatopsia, particularly in those with lesions of the fusiform gyri. Last is topographagnosia, or getting lost in familiar surroundings. The latter may be related to a failure to recognize landmarks, as functional imaging studies suggest that there is a region specialized for building recognition adjacent to the fusiform face area.
