Description Blastoschizomyces capitatus is a fungus previously called Trichosporon capitatum or Geotrichum capitatum. It is a rare cause of invasive disease in immunosuppressed patients, especially those with leukemia. Some of these patients develop cerebritis or meningitis as part of disseminated disease.
