Description |
ION related to hypotensionmost oftenpresen ts inpatien ts with chronic renal failure and dialysis. Haider et al. found 4 cases of AION in a series of 60 patients undergoing dialysis over a 2-year follow-up. The hypotension may be acute, temporally associated with the dialysis procedure, or it may be chronic. Most patients also are chronically anemic. The accelerated diffuse vasculopathy that occurs inthis disease may predispose to the development of ION, as may previous chronic hypertension, with possible arteriosclerosis and impaired autoregulation of the optic disc vascular supply. |
