Description Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an inflammatory disease whose diagnostic criteria include fever, cytopenia, and hemophagocytosis in the bone marrow. Often incited by viral infections, it leads to uncontrolled activation of macrophages and a subsequent cytokine storm. We describe the case of a 52-year-old previously healthy Hispanic woman who presented with bilateral vision loss and purtschers retinopathy secondary to HLH.
