Description |
Significance: The status of neuro-ophthalmology education in ophthalmology residency training programs is unknown in the United States. Background: There is literature detailing resident experiences for surgical procedures, however there are no articles that detail the teaching of a non-procedural specialty within ophthalmology. There are no ACGME requirements for neuroophthalmology (NO) training within ophthalmology residency programs. Each program independently determines the amount of NO training and the residency level of training within ophthalmology. Recent studies of ophthalmology residents on satisfaction with their residency NO training rate ranged from 55% to 91%. |
