Description To improve categorization and staging of retinal degenerations, we sought to identify disease-specific alterations in retinal signal processing pathways. We adapted a method to distinguish specific subclasses of ON and OFF responses in retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) using stimulus-response (S-R) relationships (Volgyi et al, J Neurosci 2004) and identifying specific shifts in sensitivity, gain, and dynamic range.
