Description Primary optic nerve sheath meningioma (PONSM) is a proliferation of meningothelial cells within the nerve sheath of the orbital or intracanalicular portion of the optic nerve. It is not common in patients younger than 20 years of age, represent less than 5% of all cases of PONSM.
