Title Can We Predict the Prognosis/Outcome of IIH Patients?
Creator Valérie Biousse, MD
Affiliation Departments of Ophthalmology and Neurology, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA
Subject Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension; Fulminant Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension; Visual Outcome; Prognostic Factors
Description Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) has a highly variable clinical presentation and outcome, making the management and follow-up of an individual patient a challenge for both neurologists and ophthalmologists. Because a number of patients irreversibly lose vision or have a chronic disease with reduced quality of life, the term 'benign intracranial hypertension' is not used anymore.
