Title Growth Cone Guidance and Axon Pathfinding Cues: Molecular Mechanisms in Optic Disc Development
Creator Stretavan, David W
Subject Growth Cone Guidance; Axon Pathfindings Cues; Neural Pathways; Embryonic Retinal Ganglion Cells; Axon Guidance Molecules; Optic Disc; Axonal Guidance; Chiasm Formation
Description The neural pathways conveying visual information from the retina to targets in the brain are established during in utero development. The formation of these pathways is the responsibility of embryonic retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) whose axons must find their way out of the retina into the optic nerve, grow through the optic chiasm and extend along the optic tract to reach CNS vision centers.
