Description The term, albinism, is derived from albus, meaning white. Persons with albinism have decreased melanin pigment in their eyes. Their hair and skin are usually hypopigmented as well. Traditionally, albinism has been classified by the presence or absence of tyrosinase on hair bulb assay.
