Homonymous hemianopic visual field loss occurs due to structural lesions involving the contralateral retrochiasmal visual pathway. The responsible lesion is usually identifiable on neuroimaging studies, especially magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain with gadolinium-DTPA contrast. |
