Description Multiple Sclerosis is commonly categorized as an inflammatory disease of the brains white matter. Studies have been conducted measuring RNFL loss in MS, but newer studies are relating levels of RNFL loss to regional brain atrophy of the white as well as the grey matter of the CNS. Our research indicates early grey matter involvement in MS. This is important to ascertain since it is known that grey matter damage is a critical factor leading to permanent disability in this disease.
