Title IgG What is it Good 4?
Creator Gregory P. Van Stavern, MD
Affiliation Detroit, MI
Subject IgG4; Orbital Inflammatory Syndrome; Pachymeningitis
Description IgG4 related disease is an increasingly recognized condition which can mimic other, immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. The diagnostic criteria are still evolving and a number of previously unclassified or eponymic diseases are now falling under the category of IgG4-related disease. This condition has several distinct neuro-ophthalmic manifestations, including orbital inflammatory syndrome and pachymeningitis, and others may follow. Neuro-ophthalmologists should have increased awareness of this condition and be familiar with diagnostic testing for, and treatment of, IgG4 related disease.
