Description Early central vision loss in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), while not common, can result from different mechanisms, including subretinal fluid, papilledema/optic neuropathy, choroidal folds, hyperopic shift, macular hemorrhages macular edema, or rarely subretinal neovascularization.1-3 The mechanism of the visual loss is important to determine to help guide management decisions, such as the need for early surgical intervention. This study examines the etiology and prognosis of central vision loss in IIH at presentation, and provides objective measures to predict visual outcomes.
