Description A 59-year-old woman had severe pulmonary hypertension with a very limited exercise tolerance due to scleroderma. This diagnosis was made four years earlier due to characteristic skin changes. Moderate systemic hypertension had developed over the previous two years. The patient entered the hospital for an investigative trial of the effect of high-dose intravenous nitroglycerin therapy on pulmonary artery pressures.
