Description |
A 57 year old right-handed cowboy suddenly developed a right homonymous hemianopia. During the subsequent three days, he had peculiar spells from one to three times per hour as well as a persistent field rut. The spells resembled a 4th of July fireworks display of 'beautiful red, gold, and black sparkling lights' which would increase in size and number in the right visual field. The episodes lasted 2 - 6 minutes each. He described a feeling of spatial disorientation and poor memory while the episodes were in progress. During the time the 'fireworks' were present, he had hallucinations of objects actually present in his left visual field also appearing in the blind right visual field. |
