Heredo-Macular Degenerations

This ever-increasing number of disorders is quickly forgotten by those either not interested in retinal problems or by those who do not see many such problems. Into one or the other of these groups fells the majority of neuro-ophthalmologists. While retinal disease in association with neurologic diseases maybe seen, retinal disease alone, particularly the rather rare forms of heredo-retinal dystrophies, would be rarely seen. A listing of these diseases, with a brief description will follow, but the diseases of importance to the neuro-ophthalmologist will be stressed. To aid in orientation this classification Is listed by the primary anatomic site affected wnh the mode of heredity in parentheses.
