Title Analysis of the Clinical Presentations of Optic Neuritis and (Presumed) Ischemic Optic Neuropathy: A Retrospective Study of 367 Patients
Creator Joseph F. Rizzo III, MD, Massachusetts Eye and Ear
Subject Optic Neuropathy; Ischemic Optic Neuropathy; Multiple Sclerosis; Clinical Presentation; Central Scotoma; Visual Outcome
Description The distinction between optic neuritis (ON) and ischemic optic neuropathy (ION) can be difficult at the time of initial presentation. Since the prognosis for visual recovery is different for these two conditions, improved diagnostic accuracy would be useful. We retrospectively analysed 367 patients with ON or ION and a clinical profile was developed for each of these conditions.
