Creator Charles G. Drake
Subject Giant Intracranial Aneurysms; Aneurysmal Optic Nerve Compression; Aneurysmal Chiasm Compression; Upper Basilar Artery Aneurysm
Description Symptomatic aneurysmal compression of the optic nerves and chiasm is rare as compared to its incidence with sellar and parasellar tumors. However, as we now have a surgical experience with over 600 giant intracranial aneurysms. I was able to find 98 which had produced measurable loss of vision. Aside from three huge upper basilar artery aneurysms, all arose from the carotid artery and most of these at the origin of the ophthalmic artery.
