Description Neuropathic visual loss can occur in humans stung by bees or wasps (Hymenoptera). To date, six cases of this type have been described in an equal number of reports, and in each case, involvement of the optic nerve was characterized as "optic neuritis" complicating an allergic reaction to insect venom.
