Title Foveation Dynamics and Oscillopsia in Latent/Manifest Latent Nystagmus
Creator Dell'Osso, Louis F; Leigh, R John; Remler, Bernd F
Subject Foveation Dynamics; Oscillopsia; Latent Nystagmus; Congenital Nystagmus; Latent/Manifest Matent Nystagmus
Description We studied the foveation dynamics of an individual with high visual acuity and JatenVmanifest latent nystagmus (LMLN) to test the hypothesis that oscillopsia suppression and good visual acuity require periods of accurate target foveation at low slip velocities. This has been shown for congenital nystagmus (CN), where such extended foveation exists just after foveating saccades. However, the LMLN waveform has no such post-saccadic periods and yet, neither oscillopsia nor poor acuity usually result.
