Creator Keltner, John L; Thirkill, Charles E; Corbett, James J; Digre, Kathleen B
Subject Visual Neglect; Unilateral Hemineglect Syndrome; Therapeutic Interventions; Cognitive Retraining; Vestibular Stimulation; Pharmacotherapy
Description The term visuospatial neglect describes the behavior of patients who, after unilateral brain injury, appear to be unaware of visual stimuli situated on the side opposite to the lesion. Visuospatial neglect forms part of the wider spectrum of behaviors that make up the unilateral hemineglect syndrome, in which patients fail to "report, respond or orient to stimuli presented to the side contralateral to a cerebral lesion."
