Description Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) has been described to be associated with various white matter lesions including the plaques associated with multiple sclerosis. TNF may be elevated in the CSF of certain AIDS patients. We confirmed that many AIDS patients with neurological symptoms are likely to have high TNF levels in their CSF.
