Group I - Peripheral Cranial Nerve Syndromes, I. Carcinomatous Meningitis, ETIOLOGY A. Breast, lung, lymphoma, melanoma. B. Cerebral symptoms - Headache, N & v, Dementia, Stupor, Seizures. c. Spinal nerve symptoms - Neck and back pain, motor, sensory or reflex deficits, bowel & bladder Sx. D. Cranial nerve symptoms - Papilledema, + vision, diplopia, ptosis, Horner's, 5,7,8,9 & 10~12. E. CSG examination - t pressure, t cells, t protein, + sugar, + cytology. F. Therapy - Radiation and/or chemotherapy. Sudden visual loss may clear with radiation. G. Course - Progressive mental, cranial nerve, spinal symptoms. Death within months. |
