Title |
The Management of Optic Neuritis |
Creator |
Steven L. Galetta, MD, NYU Langone |
Subject |
optic neuritis; corticosteroids; methylprednisolone |
Description |
Our management of the patient with optic neuritis largely derives from the voluminous data generated by the optic neuritis treatment trial (ONTT).1-17 The ONTT was a multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled trial that enrolled 457 patients aged 18-46 years with unilateral optic neuritis (Class I). The primary aim of the ONTT was to determine the effect of intravenous and oral corticosteroid therapy on visual outcome and acute demyelinating optic neuritis. |
