Description |
Acquired pendular nystagmus (APN) most often occurs in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and is generally constant and binocular. APN oscillates with vertical, horizontal, or mixed trajectories at 2.5-6 Hz with amplitudes of 2-7o. The nystagmus ceases with eye closure and can be inhibited by saccades.1 APN is associated with demyelinative lesions in the region of the paramedian tegmentum of the brain stem, and specifically the pons if horizontal. We present an unusual case of intermittent monocular horizontal APN. |
