Subject Idiopathic Incracranial Hypertension; Intervencional Neuroradiology Techniques (stenting)
Description Focal stenoses of the transverse cerebral venous sinuses, with associated pressure gradients, are often seen in patients with IIH (1). While the role of these stenoses in the pathogenesis of IIH remains controversial (2-3), modelling studies (4) suggest that stenting of hemodynamically significant stenoses will result in increased cerebral venous outflow, reduced intracranial pressure, and consequently improved symptoms and reduced papilledema, even in cases where the stenoses are a secondary phenomenon. In this study, our objective was to determine if stenting of transverse cerebral venous sinus stenoses could be helpful in the management of IIH.
