Description Infectious neuroretinitis has traditionally been diagnosed clinically by the presence of optic disc edema with a macular star figure. The star figure of exudate however is often preceded by a central or cecocentral scotoma due to a serous detachment. Macular optical coherence tomography (OCT) can detect the serous fluid under the retina prior to the development of the star figure.
