Clinical n each case the disturbance of ocular motility was characterized by brief episodic myotonic contraction of muscles supplied by the third cranial nerve resulting in esotropia of the affected eye (medial rectus contraction) with accompanying failure of elevation and depression (cocontraction of superior and inferior recti) of the globe.
