Transcript So today we're going to talk about something in the cornea. And I'm not going to talk about the cornea problems that are related to this but just so why you need to know it in neuro oph. So SLK is superior which means it's at the top of the eye. Limbic which means it's at the junction between the cornea and the conjunctiva superiorly. And it's kerato which is the cornea conjunctivitis. And this superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis virus is sometimes referred to as SLK, the SLK of Theodore, and it's very characteristic. It is a wedge-shaped superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis. So you have to raise their lid up otherwise you can't see it because it's underneath their eyelid. So you have to raise their eyelid up to see it. And they have the typical complaint to expect from keratoconjunctivitis-dryness, irritation, redness, tearing. You lift the lids up you see the bilateral superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis. And the reason you need to know it neuro oph is it's associated with thyroid eye disease. Both are autoimmune conditions. presumably there's some mechanical rubbing underneath the lid that is the presumed mechanical irritation that is stimulating the inflammatory response. That means we're going to do thyroid function studies, TPO, and TSIG. So if you get the combination of findings of proptosis and SLK or lid retraction and SLK or lid lag and SLK or compressive optic neuropathy and SLK or diplopia and SLK, you really should be thinking about TED in neuro oph
