Show Box 668 Holbroo k, Arizona June 16, 1966 Mr. George S. Tanner 4545 South 2760 East Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Uncle George: I cannot find from whom grandpa Tanner got the lot where the old home was. However , I find that he did obtain a U. S. Homeste ad patent on Decembe r 9, 1892, which was recorded in Book 1 of Patents , page 26, in the Navajo County Recorde r's office, covering the Northea st quarter of Section 22, Township 18 North, Range 19 East, Gila and Salt River Base and Meridia n. This patent was recorded Novembe r 26, 1898, although as stated above, the date of it was Decembe r 9, 1892. He received another patent under date of August 18, 1927, under an act for sale of desert lands, covering the North half of Section 12, Township 18 North, Range 18 E2-st, and this was recorded in the Navajo County Recorde r's office on August 21, 1929, in Book 2 of Patents , page 482. I have no idea as to why there was a delay in making a move to acquire title to the homes in the townsite , although it may be that these people were confused for some time as to what procedu re to follow through, or they may have thought they could get it on a homeste ad basis. I don I t know. With best wishes, I remain Sincere ly, - J.,I )~ '6~; . Shelley . I COPY CO?Y CO?Y St. Josep h, ~riz. Oct. 25, 1911 Elder Thos. F.
