Student’s Age: 13 Date: 5-26-20 SCHOOL Ecker Hill Middle School How did you feel when you learned that schools would close because of the COVID-19 pandemic? A lot of mixed feelings I liked because I could be home more, but I like learning face to face with my teachers What do you like the most about online school? I get finished early Tuesday or Wednesday What do you dislike the most about online school? I like getting to learn with my friends What do you miss the most about school? My friends How are you connecting with your school friends during the pandemic? Calling them or FaceTime to texting EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES What activities did you do before the pandemic? (Sports, music, etc. Please be specific.) Nothing Are you continuing to do them now? If so, how? Do you use a virtual platform? Do you do them as you did before? No What do you miss most about doing these activities in person? What do you like most about doing activities online? FAMILY AND HOME What questions do you have about the pandemic? Nothing What has changed the most in your home because of the pandemic? It is so crowded and we have a dog now. How do you spend your free time at home? Reading and playing with my dog and going outside How have you stayed connected to extended family? How has this changed your relationships? I have been staying connected , but no relationships have changed Are you learning new skills because of the pandemic? (Cooking, babysitting, house chores, arts, crafts, etc.?) If so, what are they? Yes, I have been skateboarding SOCIETY How has the pandemic affected your community? How has it affected our state? I don’t really know how it has affected us, but I know people are separated Do you see any positive impacts from the pandemic? Explain… No, because their are a lot of people who are lonely right now and have no family or friends living with them so they are very lonely and I just want it gone Do you see any negative impacts from the pandemic? Explain… Yes their a lot, like my uncle and aunts wedding they only got their immediate family so no leases or nerves besides me and my sibling, but all my cousins could not come. What do you want future generations to know about what it’s like to experience a pandemic? That it was not a great experience their were a lot of people who are sick and a lot who might die, and that it is really hard because of the social distancing you can not see your family unless they live with you or for special occasions. |
