Student’s Age: 11 years old Date: 5/11/2020 SCHOOL Albion middle school How did you feel when you learned that schools would close because of the COVID-19 pandemic? I was sad and also pretty stressed because everything was unknown and I really didn’t know what was going to happen What do you like the most about online school? Being able to wake up late and be lazy :) What do you dislike the most about online school? Not being able to see my friends and teachers in person is very hard for me. What do you miss the most about school? Seeing everybody, And I never thought I’d say this, but being locked up in my house with only my family, just being around people! How are you connecting with your school friends during the pandemic? Through technology, Facetime,Zoom, etc. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES What activities did you do before the pandemic? (Sports, music, etc. Please be specific.) I did piano, voice lessons,theatre, an acting, dancing, and singing class, And dance classes Are you continuing to do them now? If so, how? Do you use a virtual platform? Do you do them as you did before? Piano I do through facetime and sometimes in person, I did voice lessons through facetime and now we do a little in person, I was in a play and they just cancelled it completely, my acting class got cancelled, And dance we dida couple classes through zoom but not a lot What do you miss most about doing these activities in person? Seeing people,and learning new things What do you like most about doing activities online? Not a lot, I like being lazy though! FAMILY AND HOME What questions do you have about the pandemic? Just, What the heck is going on! What has changed the most in your home because of the pandemic? School, We also have a lot more chores. How do you spend your free time at home? Technology, technology, a little time outdoors, and more technology. How have you stayed connected to extended family? How has this changed your relationships? Yes, we have seen extended family a few times but we just feel less connected. Are you learning new skills because of the pandemic? (Cooking, babysitting, house chores, arts, crafts, etc.?) If so, what are they? Not really, but I have grown very fond of reading SOCIETY How has the pandemic affected your community? How has it affected our state? It shut down dine in at all restaurants, it shut down schools, and you have to wear masks everywhere. Do you see any positive impacts from the pandemic? Explain… We all have improved our self hygiene, I’ve also learned how to live without seeing my friends Do you see any negative impacts from the pandemic? Explain… No Joke, We are running out of toilet paper, water, and hand sanitizer. People are hoarding supplies. What do you want future generations to know about what it’s like to experience a pandemic? It’s crazy, confusing, It’s like your whole life has been turned upside down. No one is leaving their houses, you have to keep a 6 foot distance from everybody. It’s hard to miss all your activities, and it's stressful to always be hearing about sickness and death. |
