Student’s Age: 12 Date: 5/13/2020 SCHOOL Albion Middle School How did you feel when you learned that schools would close because of the COVID-19 pandemic? I felt sad because I could not see my friends anymore! What do you like the most about online school? I like how the teachers do video chats and email you for help I also like the counseling corner because they give video chats where we can communicate with our peers! What do you dislike the most about online school? I do not like online school because I can not talk to my friends and teachers in person! What do you miss the most about school? I miss my friends so much and I miss doing science experiments! How are you connecting with your school friends during the pandemic? I email, text, and video chat! EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES What activities did you do before the pandemic? (Sports, music, etc. Please be specific.) I did music lessons, karate,Harry potter club, and was about to start softball! Are you continuing to do them now? If so, how? Do you use a virtual platform? Do you do them as you did before? Well I still sing at home and sometimes play baseball or softball with my family! What do you miss most about doing these activities in person? For voice I miss my teacher and for the club I miss my friends! What do you like most about doing activities online? I like how I can go at my own pace! FAMILY AND HOME What questions do you have about the pandemic? Well I have no questions What has changed the most in your home because of the pandemic? I have more time to do homework and I am spending a lot more time with my family How do you spend your free time at home? I spend my free time outside or playing my ipad I also love to sing and color! How have you stayed connected to extended family? How has this changed your relationships? I either call, text or video chat! It has changed our relationship because I can not get as close to them as I would in person! Are you learning new skills because of the pandemic? (Cooking, babysitting, house chores, arts, crafts, etc.?) If so, what are they? I have learned how to do chores better and I have improved my coloring skills and I want to learn how to cook better too! SOCIETY How has the pandemic affected your community? How has it affected our state? It has affected my community because my friends and I can not have playdates and it has affected our state because we have to wear mask in public and everything has closed or shutdown Do you see any positive impacts from the pandemic? Explain… Once this is over everyone will be more happy and also everyone might appreciate or be more nice to others! Do you see any negative impacts from the pandemic? Explain… Well I can not see my friends and I can not go to school! The sport I wanted to do was closed and you can not be as close to people online! What do you want future generations to know about what it’s like to experience a pandemic? That is hard for everyone, but pandemics will always end and doctors will probably find a vaccine! |
