Oral history interview with Margie Victoria Delgado, conducted by Camilla Flores (transcript)

Margie Victoria Delgado discusses being raised in a family that emphasized assimilation, so she is not bilingual. She talks about attempting to learn Spanish through different classes. She discusses her family history and genealogy, and how her grandmother came to settle in Grand Junction, Colorado. She went to live with her aunt and uncle in Salt Lake City as a young girl after her mother died. She recounts how she learned about racism when attending school, and having the opportunity to attend the University of Utah through the Spanish-Speaking Organization for Community, Integrity, and Opportunity (SOCIO) organization. She discusses the impact of the Chicano movement on her life, and her work with the juvenile court system.
