Letters from Allen H. Lundgren in Germany to wife Ruth in Salt Lake City during March of 1945, while serving in the U.S. Army's Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. The letters are becoming infrequent due to the continual move of the Army across Germany. In a letter on March 13 he describes the Army's entering a city with little resistance. The letter of March 23 mentions the Volksturmers, the "civilian army" that was supposed to protect the home front but which now was deserting in the face of the advancing Americans. Includes a letter to his parents dated March 30, describing some lithographs by German artist Josef Arens that he has sent home. Letters dated March 7, 9, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 30, 31. |
