Description Letters from Allen H. Lundgren in Germany and Belgium to wife Ruth in Salt Lake City during October of 1944, while serving in the U.S. Army's Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. Letter of Oct. 7 addresses petty politics in the Army. On Oct. 12 he reports the change when his longtime partner, Dick Northrop, was commissioned as a Lieutenant. Oct. 16: Allen cautions folks at home not to celebrate the war's end prematurely. Many letters convey the frustration of idle waiting for further progress in the war effort. Letters from Oct. 27 on are from Belgium. Letters dated Oct. 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29.
