The Utah men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth overall at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate today. The Utes shot even par (280) in the third and final round of the tournament, shooting 15-under (825) through the tournament as a whole. The team's 15-under performance (825) set a school record for lowest 54-hole team score. The previous record was 840 at the Cowboy Classic in 2008. Senior Jordan Costello was the top Ute placing himself in a tie for 12th overall after shooting 4-under par (66) for the second consecutive day. Costello improved his score each round and was able to finish the event 7-under par (203). Senior Mitchell Schow finished tied for 18th amongst the field after carding 1-over par (71) on the day. Schow performed well all tournament shooting 5-under par (205) to help himself finish in the top 20. Junior Tristan Mandur shot even par (70) for the third consecutive day to tie for 37th overall. His steady play through all 54 holes helped him shoot even par (210) on the course. True freshmen Jesper von Reedtz and junior Blake Tomlinson finished tied for 44th and 51st amongst the field. Reedtz carded 3-over (73) on the day to give him a tournament score of 1-over par (211) while Tomlinson shot 4-over (74) in the third round to finish the event 3-over par (213). |
