Description Idiopathic or demyelinating optic neuritis (ON), a treatable non-glaucomatous optic neuropathy, is typically studied using global visual field (VF) indices, such as mean deviation (MD). We hypothesized that archetypal analysis (AA), which we recently used to quantify patterns of VF loss due to intracranial hypertension, could reveal quantifiable clinically relevant archetypes (AT), identify ATs predictive of VF outcome and treatment effect, and uncover residual defects in ON.
